SOUTHERN STEAM PHOTOS

My main railway interest for years has been in Germany. Especially the operation of 3 cylinder oil fired pacific 012 100-4. A loco owned by the German Railways Museum and operated with the Rendsburger Eisenbahnfreunde, (REF), a Group I belong to. That pacific is not operating at present, despite gaining a new boiler in 2005! Discussions between the REF and the German Railways Museum are continuing and I hope 012 100-4 will be back in service soon. My web coverage of that loco and other steam activities has now moved to germansteam.co.uk.

In the meantime I still have to get my "Steam Fix", and the 40th anniversary of the end of Southern Region BR steam, (July 1967), where I did most of my early photography of, and travelling behind, (sometimes at very high speed!), steam locos, has just passed. That helped re-ignited my interest in SR steam, and I have started to photo some of the operations of locos from the 1960's that run on old SR tracks. So a selection of photos will appear on this site, split them between:-
